প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থী, আজ ইংরেজি ২য় পত্রের ১ নম্বর প্রশ্ন Article নিয়ে আলোচনা করব। এই প্রশ্নে ছয়টি শূন্যস্থান সংবলিত একটি passage থাকবে। উপযুক্ত Article দিয়ে শূন্যস্থান পূরণ করতে হবে। আগে জেনে নাও Article ব্যবহারের নিয়মগুলো।

Omission of Article
# রাস্তা, অ্যাভিনিউ, স্কয়ার, পার্কের নামের পূর্বে Article বসে না। কিন্তু এদের নামের পর road শব্দটি উল্লেখ থাকলে The বসে। যেমন:
He bought a shop in x Park Street.
He bought a shop in the Mirpur Road.
Allah বা God এর পূর্বে Article বসে না। যেমন:
X Allah helps those who help themselves.
Man poses; x God disposes.
# বিখ্যাত গ্রন্েথর পূর্বে লেখকের নাম থাকলে তার পূর্বে Article বসে না। যেমন:
Nazrul’s Agnibina was published in 1922. (But The Agnibina of Nazrul was banned by the then British government.)
# কোন auxiliary এবং principal verb এর মধ্যে article বসে না। যেমন:
He was x disturbed by his classmates.
# যদি adjective এর পর কোনো noun না থাকে তাহলে to be এবং adjective এর মধ্যে article বসে না। যেমন:
These are the tips for him who is x careless.
But it is for him who is a careless person.
# Proper Noun এর পূর্বে Common Noun বসে যদি Adjective এর কাজ করে তবে Proper Noun টির পূর্বে বা পরে article বসে না। যেমন:
Professor Shafi Ahmed received his M.A. in English from Kolkata University.
# Home এর পূর্বে বা পরে descriptive word বা phrase না থাকলে article বসে না। যেমন:
We went x home.
He is at x home.
# কিন্তু home এর পূর্বে বা পরে descriptive word বা phrase থাকলে the বসে। যেমন:
We arrived at the bride’s home.
For some four or five hours this was the home for the queen.
