The headmaster told to the class 7 students about their school shop.
‘Some of you know that I’ve been talking with Mrs. Chowdhury and some of her class 7 students for a few days about, starting a school shop. Yesterday I also discussed it with our other teachers and we all think it’s an excellent idea. And you all think it’s an exciting idea too. So we’ve agreed to use the room next to my office for a school shop. Nobody’s been using it since the beginning of this term and it’s about the right.
‘We hope to start our school shop as soon as possible. Everyone may use it. Two students from every class will be representatives on the Shop Committee. Mrs. Chowdhury and I will run the committee and the committee will run the shop. We want to meet and discuss everything as early as possible. So your teachers will help you to vote for your representatives during your first lesson this morning.’

Shahed Ali was born in Sylhet on 24 May 1925. He was one of the leading short story writers of Bangladesh. He is most famous for his short story ‘Jibrailer Dana’ (Gabriel’s wings) which has been translated in English by his daughter, novelist Dilruba Zeenat Ara. His first story Asru (tears) was published in 1940 when he was a student of grade eight. He worked as the editor of a magazine called ‘Pravati’ from 1944-1966. He was also the editor of two journals of the Islamic foundation. ‘Sabuj Pata’ and ‘Islamic Academy Patrika.’ He got 11 awards. Among them Bangla Academy Award (1964), Ekushe Padak (1989), Language movement Award (1981) are mentionable. He died in 2001.
The famous novelist Earnest Hemingway was born on July 21. 1899 in America. He was an author and journalist. He started his career as a reporter. He had a deep fascination for it. For the same reason he went to Spain to cover the war for a newspaper. In 1940 he established his residence in Cuba. In the same year his famous novel ‘For Whom the Bell Toll’ was published. The most outstanding novel of Hemingway. ‘The old man and the Sea’ was published in 1952. One year after the publication of this novel he was awarded Pulitzer Prize. In 1954 he won Nobel Prize for literature. On July 2 in 1961 he committed suicide.
