Right form of verbs
প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থী, আজ ইংরেজি ২য় পত্রের Right form of verbs-চর্চা করব। verb-গুলো যখন Sentence-এ ব্যবহূত হয়, তখন Sentence-এর ধরন, tense, Subject প্রভৃতির প্রকৃতি অনুযায়ী verb-এর রূপ পরিবর্তিত হয়। আর এ পরিবর্তনের নিয়মকানুনগুলো ধারাবাহিকভাবে নিচে আলোচনা করা হলো।

Ans. is
iv. What is good for your health (to be) not good.
Ans. is
v. The giving of the book to me by Kabir (to have) occurred just now.
Ans. has
10. News, wages, poetry, issue, politics, civics, physics, machinery, economics, mathematics, ethics, statistics, species, poetry, whereabouts, innings, gallows, electronics, dynamics এগুলো plural বলে মনে হলেও এরা singular এবং singular verb গ্রহণ করে।
i. Ill news (to run) apace. Ans. runs
ii. The wage of sin (to be) death. Ans. is
iii. Civics (to be) my favourite subject.
Ans. is
11. Gentry, peasantry, aristocracy, cattle, poultry, clergy, police, people, folk, dozen-এগুলো singular মনে হলেও plural এবং plural verb গ্রহণ করে—
i. The clergy always (to try) to promote religious ideology. Ans. try
12. Spectacles, glasses, jaws, trousers, thanks, shears, odds, pants, annals, alms, ashes, assets, aborigines, billiards, bowels, eves, nuptials, shorts, tidings-এগুলো সব সময়ই plural এবং plural verb গ্রহণ করে
i The spectacles he puts on (to be) nice.
Ans. are
ii. The Australian aborigines (to be) nomads.
Ans. are
13. See, saw, hear, heard, feel, felt, smell, smelt, find, notice, noticed, watch, watched, catch, caught-এ verb-গুলোর object-এর পরে present participle হয়। অর্থাত্ পরের ক্রিয়াপদের সঙ্গে ing যুক্ত হয়—
(sub + V + object + present participle)
i. I saw him (go) home.
Ans. going
ii. We found the boy (sleep) on the floor.
Ans. sleeping
iii. I smelt the curry (burn). Ans. burning
iv. I noticed Tarq (waving) his hands.
Ans. waving
v. I found him (stand) at the gats.
Ans. standing
vi. He caught the boy (steal) mangoes.
Ans. stealing
N.B. ওপরের verb-গুলোর পরে object-এর পরে present participle না হয়ে bare infinitive-ও হতে পারে। তখন অর্থের একটু পরিবর্তন হয়। infinitive হলে কাজটি শেষ হয়েছে বোঝায়। Participle হলে কাজটি চলমান আছে বোঝায়।
i. I saw him go home. (যাওয়া শেষ হয়েছে)
ii. I heard her sing. (গান শেষ হয়েছে)
14. Go এবং come verb এর পরে শারীরিক কাজ বোঝায় এরূপ verb-এর সঙ্গে ing যুক্ত হয়।
i. He will go riding/swimming/baking/shopping.
ii. She went (run/whistle).
Ans. running/whistling
iii. She came (jump). Ans. jumping
15. Be + busy এর পরে ক্রিয়ার সঙ্গে ing যুক্ত হয়—
i. She is busy (to wash) hands.
Ans. washing
ii. She is busy (to write) some letters.
Ans. writing
16. একই subject যখন দুটো কাজ করে তখন প্রথম কাজটির জন্য present participle হয়। অর্থাত্ কাজের প্রথম ক্রিয়ার সঙ্গে ing যোগ করতে হয়—
i. (To open) the bag, she took out some books.
Ans. Opening the bag................
ii. (To sit) down on the bed he took off his shoes.
Ans. Sitting down on the bed................ .
