প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থী, শুভেচ্ছা নিয়ো। গতকালের পর আজ ইংরেজি ২য় পত্রের ১ নম্বর প্রশ্নের Article নিয়ে আলোচনা করব।

The-এর ব্যবহার

13. যে Noun দ্বারা পেশা বা বৃত্তি বোঝায়, তার আগে The বসে। যেমন:

Md. Minaj Uddin joined the army in 1993.

14. কোনো Common Noun দ্বারা Superlative-এর গুরুত্ব বোঝালে a/an না বসে বরং The বসে। যেমন:

Shakira is the singer of the day.

15. Adjective দ্বারা সমগ্র জাতি বা বিশেষ কোনো সম্প্রদায় বোঝালে তার আগে The বসে। যেমন:

We should not look down upon the poor.

The rich are not always happy.

The pious are blessed.

16. কোনো কিছুর অংশ বোঝাতে Adjective-এর আগে The বসে। যেমন:

He entered into the thick of the forest.

17. কোনো Common noun দ্বারা Abstract বা গুণগত আদর্শ বোঝাতে তার আগে The বসে। যেমন:

Seeing the sonsy baby, the mother rose in her.

Everybody loves the brave of the country.

18. কোনো Proper Noun-এর আগে Epithet থাকলে ওই Epithetটির আগে বা Nounটির পর The বসে। যেমন:

Alexander the great was a famous warrior.

19. Material Noun-এর আগে The বসে না, কিন্তু কোনো নির্দিষ্ট স্থানের বা নির্দিষ্ট প্রকারের পদার্থ বোঝালে Material Noun-এর আগে The বসে। যেমন:

The water of this glass is pure.

The gold of South Africa is precious.

The perfume of France is praiseworthy.

20. Choir, orchestra ও pop group-এর আগে The বসে। যেমন:

Nowadays the Miles is a very popular band in Bangladesh.

21. কতিপয় collective noun আছে, যারা স্বভাবতই plural, এদের আগে The বসে। যেমন:

The elite enjoy the privilege of the State.

The audience applauded the singer.

22. Musical instrument যখন বাজানো অর্থে ব্যবহূত হয়, তখন এর আগে The বসে। যেমন:

Nazmussehar can play the piano sonorously.

23. সংখ্যা প্রকাশক word একটা unit অর্থে ব্যবহূত হলে তার আগে The বসে। যেমন:

He sells mangoes by the hundred/by hundreds [by the hundreds, dozens, scores হবে না]

24. Adjective যুক্ত কতিপয় Proper Noun বা Noun + Preposition + Proper Noun বা Noun-এর আগে The বসে। যেমন:

The National Zoo at Mirpur is visited by thousands of people everyday.

The Fort of Lalbagh is a place of historical interest in Bangladesh.

Article-এর ব্যবহার

1. Proper Noun-এর পূর্বে Article বসে না। যেমন:

X Mr. Mainuddin lived in x Khagrachhary.

2. মনে রাখতে হবে, Article কেবল Noun-এর পূর্বেই বসে। অন্য কোনো Parts of speech-এর পূর্বে বসে না। যদি বসে, তবে বুঝবে যে ওই শব্দটির পর অবশ্যই একটি Noun আছে। যেমন:

Sakib Al Hasan is a great all rounder in the arena of world cricket.             

He is x honest. He is a good student.
